Presence: A Bagua Path to Fulfillment

Based upon the traditional art of Bagua (a Chinese internal philosophy), Cowley explores the foundational training of a sacred martial practice. Putting himself in the shoes of the founder of the art itself, developed over 200 years ago, Cowley journeyed inward to discover within himself what may actually have been taught on the mountain, and what Baguazhang was before it was combined with other family styles of combative kung fu. Presented as a mind/body practice, the reader can easily identify with the simplicity of the philosophies and drills. The text serves a great primer for anyone exploring the health and wellness, martial arts, or spirituality fields. No prior knowledge of Tai Chi, Baguazhang or Qigong is required to experience the author's personal message.

This year, we've added his work, "Sprung from the Soil: A Series of Poems on Old Sturbridge Village". The book is finominally illustrated by the great watercolorist Ian Newbury, who has recently teamed with Wild Animal as one of our resident artists.

Westerly Land Trust Field Guide

Wild Animal is in production with their first Field Guide project, customized for the objectives and conservation awareness concerns of Westerly Rhode Island's Land Trust. Together we hope to educate the locals and visitors on how to enjoy and respect the nature preserves that the Land Trust has acquired. Fully illustrated, it will showcase indiginous species and invasive species, highlighting preservation/conservation techniques.
