David Madden
"A historical visionary and interpreter of archival architecture, Madden is a poet beyond the structure. His writings lay the path before the Sturbridge stroller..."

David Madden, Poet and Author
David Madden was born and raised in Manchester CT. He moved to Mystic in 1972 and began his teaching career in Groton in 1973, retiring in 2008. He served as youth advisor at Third Baptist Church in North Stonington and Union Baptist Church in Mystic during the 1980’s. David is a member of the Writer’s Roundtable, a group of playwrights that meets twice a month to share, comment on, enjoy and promote each other’s plays. He has had the privilege of being a volunteer in the emergency room at the Westerly Hospital since 2001. David attended Manchester Community College, Eastern Connecticut State University, Connecticut College and Southern Connecticut State University. The most valuable lesson he learned in all that time is that education is what’s left over after you’ve forgotten everything you’ve learned in school.
Since retiring from the classroom, David has written a book of poems about Old Sturbridge Village (Sprung from the Soil) and another book on the Quaker testimonies of Simplicity, Peace, Integrity, Community, Equality and Stewardship (A Quaker Cupboard). He has enjoyed every aspect of the creative process involved in writing, publishing and marketing his books and looks forward to continuing and expanding upon this experience with Wild Animal Publishing.
