Presence: A Bagua Path to Fulfillment

Based upon the traditional art of Bagua (a Chinese internal philosophy), Cowley explores the foundational training of a sacred martial practice. Putting himself in the shoes of the founder of the art itself, developed over 200 years ago, Cowley journeyed inward to discover within himself what may actually have been taught on the mountain, and what Baguazhang was before it was combined with other family styles of combative kung fu. Presented as a mind/body practice, the reader can easily identify with the simplicity of the philosophies and drills. The text serves a great primer for anyone exploring the health and wellness, martial arts, or spirituality fields. No prior knowledge of Tai Chi, Baguazhang or Qigong is required to experience the author's personal message.

Making an Environmental Connection

Keith M Cowley, author of Presence: A Bagua Path to Fulfillment, is currently engaged in his newest project, this time with the Westerly Land Trust. From a scientific background, as well as a Mind/Body perspective, Cowley uses his awareness skills and continued Native American philosophy studies to interpret the WLT preserves. Over the course of a year, he is integrating himself deeply into 8 of the properties through daily exposure and subtle observation. The book aims to provide an alternative approach to experiencing our local environment from a connected vantage point, as opposed to the common "field guide" identification process that separates the observer from Nature.
